Ibraco donates RM6,000 to support Penan students in Baram

Presenting RM6k cheque to Hope Place for sponsorship of Form 5 revision books

Ibraco Berhad has contributed RM6,000 to Hope Place Kuching for a special education initiative benefiting the Penan community in Baram.

The one-off donation will be used to purchase SPM reference books for students at SMK Long Bedian.

The village of Long Bedian is home to two schools, SK Long Bedian and SMK Long Bedian, which collectively serve around 500 students ranging from kindergarten to secondary school.

The majority of the student population is from the Penan tribe. SMK Long Bedian began offering Form 4 and Form 5 classes just last year, and the school is proud to report that all Form 5 students successfully passed their SPM examinations.

“We saw the need to help all these students here in Long Bedian. I myself, am encouraged by the enthusiasm of the school to provide the best education for the children here in the village,” said Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan.

He praised the commitment of the school and expressed gratitude for Ibraco Berhad’s partnership in supporting education for underserved communities.

The cheque presentation ceremony was held at the Hope Place office in Tabuan Tranquility 3, where a representative from Ibraco Berhad officially handed over the donation to Wan and his team.

“This contribution underscores Ibraco Berhad’s commitment to giving back to the community, particularly in supporting educational development in rural Sarawak. Through this collaboration, the company and Hope Place aim to ensure that students in remote areas have access to essential learning materials,” he added.
