Uplifting lives in Ulu Baram
MIRI: Ibraco Berhad proudly participated in the 11th edition of Charity Without Borders, an impactful event held from December 12 to 15 in the remote village of Long Tikan, Ulu Baram, Sarawak.
Organised by Kelab Cabaran Pacuan 4 Roda Bintulu and Hope Place Kuching, this heartwarming initiative aimed to provide much-needed aid to the Penan community in Long Tikan, Long Betao, and Long Bee, with assistance also extended to villagers from Long Jekitan.
The event’s flag-off was held on December 12 by Telang Usan assemblyman Datuk Dennis Ngau; alongside Chia Kah Furng, personal assistant to Datuk Sebastian Ting, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts; Leong Ah Long, representing Miri MP Chew Choon Man; Kelvin Hii, personal assistant to Adam Yii, Mayor of Miri City; and other dignitaries.
Datuk Chew Chiaw Han, Managing Director of Ibraco Berhad, said Ibraco contributed 165 boxes of essential supplies to these villages, which were distributed alongside 250 Christmas treats for the children.
“This generous contribution helped bring a festive spirit to the remote communities, many of which are far from typical holiday celebrations.
“There were three representatives from Ibraco who participated in the event, whose presence reflected the company’s commitment to giving back to those in need.
“Ibraco is proud and glad to be part of this humbling initiative by Hope Place. As a company, we believe in giving back to the community, and we truly understand that charity starts at home, where needs are most urgent,” he said.
He added that Ibraco’s goal is to help nurture those in need, fostering a better quality of life for these communities and their future generations.
The event also featured a comprehensive health and medical outreach, with a 22-person medical team providing free healthcare services to over 200 villagers, including 104 children.
Chew further said that Ibraco’s support is a testament to the company’s dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
“We continue to believe in the power of collective action and community-focused initiatives, which were clearly demonstrated during this remarkable event.
“Ibraco is committed to improving lives where it matters most, and this event truly embodies the spirit of giving and solidarity,” he added.
